Back button focusing?

I use back-button focussing and have done ever since I discovered it. I discovered it by trying to work out how to separate focussing from shutter release and metering. For me it is easier and more intuitive than having shutter release, metering and focussing all on one button (even if you have to go from half-press to full press to release the shutter). When I discovered it, I was looking for focus-lock and exposure-lock. For me. back-button-focussing is by far the easiest solution. I don't tend to use exposure lock - where straight-forward aperture or shutter priority automatic mode will not do, I find it easier to use the meter and go manual or dial in exposure compensation.

I have used it since I upgraded to a Canon 40D and realised that I could separate focusing and shutter/metering. I wouldn't have it any other way,
