Backdrops - how do you avoid creasing ?

Yes
I recently purchased a grey backdrop that i really like but it came folded and i simply can't get the creases out leading to far too much wasted time in LR removing them.

The backdrop is stored rolled up but the original creases are still there.

How do people avoid this problem ?

tia,
Mike.

Paper may be ironed, using the floor as board, with relative success.
For fabrics like muslin or cotton, I got a steamer that is working quite
wonders on the hanging fabric.

It's a funny material - not muslin or cotton, has a bit of sheen to it so most likely got some nylon in it.

…funny material - not muslin or cotton…

The most important word in a studio is: TEST!

I would suggest you set an ironing board close to the hanging BD and, with an
iron on mild heat, test a corner to see how it will react to the heat. If no change
AND no damage done, set a tad higher temperature setting until the creases in
that corner are gone
AND no damage done (to suspected synthetic content).

Good luck!

I have tried ironing it before but little joy - will maybe give it another try now

Might be worth trying steaming the creases out. As Kodiak Qc says, test an inconspicuous area first! As a first try, maybe hanging the backdrop in the bathroom while you're having a shower and if that doesn't work, maybe a wallpaper stripper type steam plate. If all else fails, you could phone the supplier and see what they recommend...

Interesting to follow, I got a little light tent eons ago and it arrived completely creased, looked a mess.
I since used wallpaper or the back of wallpaper for some images.
