Right so my current 'backup strategy' is failing in that i'm out of space thanks to the monster files coming off the 7D now so a little advice please?

I have a MacBook Pro (160gb) - that is basically FULL

an oldish (probably 4-5 years) iMac - (500gb) - also full

Lacie 1TB - Hard drive - nearly full

I need a safe, affordable upgrade for these please?

options basically are upgrade the Macs internal drives or get something like a 2TB External Hard Drive and sacrifice having some of the data with me on the lappy....

Really not sure what's the best way to store now? internal or external is basically the question please?

thanks :)

Never rely on time machine as a solid backup for photos!

My solution would be as follows.

New 500GB NAS Drive for time machine usage. (such as http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152027)

New 1TB Photo Drive (Firewire if either supports it as easier) as main photo drive
Lacie drive as backup drive for main photo drive.

(Example http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Firewire-eSata-External/dp/B000W9KHOI)

Under £200 you should be all sorted and set up. Also NAS drive is very handy for passing things to and from the computers

just an update, i've actually FOUND an old external hard drive i'd forgotten about which now puts me at (and also bought a 2TB lacie)

160gb external
1tb external
2tb external

but since they're all sort of separate any suggestions as to the most effective way to backup? i'm thinking of using Carbon Copy Cloner and sort of rotating weekly/monthly or something :/
