Having served for 30 years I can safely say that aside from a very few RAF people that I've had the pleasure of working alongside, the RAF, as an entity could be safely Privatised and show a significant improvement.
The 'sharp' end of things being split between the Army Air Corps and Fleet Air Arm...

My old SO3 at Uxbridge was an RAF Flt Lt and he cheerfully admitted that prior to that posting he'd have defended his service to the hilt, but after experiencing the chaotic shambles that is the MovCon at Brize Norton once too often, even he agreed that the whole show could be run by a civvy ex-airport manager from Prestwick.

The chap - an RAF Group-Captain, walked over to the poor Corporal on the desk and had a word...then another word...then started shouting quite loudly...
Three minutes later, the ground crew were seen running across the tarmac, literally stuffing burgers into their mouths!
How's the weather in Anglesey BTW?
