I want to know what are the best filters and are there adjustable filters. Also can you use a filter and hood together. I take a lot of bright day shots but I think I will need to remove the filter for night shots. (I think). Will this be a pain or is this something you all do? Thanks so much for your help. I'm loving photography and had no idea photographers were so helpful. What a great bonus...

Well that is a myriad of different types of filter on the market so I guess the question that has to be asked is what type of filter are you referring to, Neutral Density, Polarizer, UV etc..

Thanks for the fast reply Matt. I guess I'm looking for a polarized. I like taking pictures at the zoo and the beach. It seems that the sun is so strong that I'm not getting the shot I'm looking for even after making adjustments. I have also seen some flaring in one or two shots. But what do I know I have only been doing this for a few weeks. Lol. I ask about an adjustable lens filters because of the forever changing lighting I always run into. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your primary issue is blown out skies maybe in which case I would consider a NDG (Neutral Density Graduated) filter, can you post a image that shows the issue your having as I suspect maybe I'm not getting what your referring to

Its not you it's me. I have so many questions and don't know how to describe them for lack of experience. I will post a picture but it might take me a wail because I'm swamped with work right now. This work thing is really getting in my great new hobbies way....
