Best rechargeables for Speedlites ?

It is not only the charger itself… but the eventual, possible
damage to your batteries.
  1. that a cell gets warm during operation is absolutely normal
    but NEVER when charging!
  2. electro-chemical compound and cell construction may be
irreparably damaged when heat is generated while on charge
  3. a proper charger is based on pulse technology and is chip
    driven and controlled
  4. the charger MUST have a maintenance mode… a good one
I spent 2 days testing several solutions and only two were proven
valuable.

I never seen a battery charge that stays stone cold

… than you got the wrong charger technology.
A proper charger with perform is task and any
cell(s) placed on it will cool off in the process.

You would not expect any charger to reman totally cold, as energy is involved. However the slower and more controlled and cooler the charging the better the batteries will last.
Cheap chargers treat all batteries the same whatever their condition or state of charge. This is very damaging.

Can anyone recommend some good quality chargers then?

And those are....?

Hand made by myself. I tested the chip and the suggested
part list and construction plan of the Canadian engineer who
created this charging technology and it clicked all the boxes.

If you have some skills, I could send you the chip and a plan
at cost (44.73 €) plus shipping. The part list contains no SMD
elements and the total cost of that part list is less than 19 €.
You'd have to add an Euro card to build the circuit on and the
box to hold everything.

I decided to go that way because I learned a lot about pulse
charging technologies, electro-chemical compound and cell
construction.

Thanks for the offer but I'm interested to find out if there are any good quality charges on the market, conditioning the batteries as you previously mentioned. I've had duracell own brand chargers in the past that charge batteries in twos and warm up and don't seem that great to me, so if they're punting these out to charge their own batteries there's a gap in the market for something decent.

I can recommend the Tech molina BL700.

It can charge, discharge and condition batteries.
It only let's you charge at a peak current of 700mah as well as doing 200 and 500mah rates to to help preserve battery life.

There is a newer version of the BL700 which has advanced chip technology in it.
