Best sharp alternative to AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens

I'm looking for a good sharp alternative for my AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm lens. I would like a good, sharp lens.

any mid-range lens that you could recommend?

The Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G series is a great lens, albeit quite heavy.

Not sure what camera body you are using, but the Tamron 17-50 non VC that I have is one of the sharpest lens I have used with my d90.

Sigma 17-70 F2.8 to F4 was my step up from the kit lens. I loved it and it never let me down .

Assuming you mean the DX version, I found the Sigma 17-70 to be much better when I had a D7100 years ago.

The old 18-70 was a great lens compared to the 18-55 but copies may be a bit long-in-the-tooth now. No VR either.

If you use the lens at its widest end mainly I might suggest the 16-35/4 Nikkor.
