Wondering about getting new camera body and thought maybe part/ex would be an option. Any advice on this?

I've used MPB a few times. They do part exchange (although you'd be better selling privately) but their used stock is second to none. I got a 70-200VR 2.8 for less than a used one on eBay and when I got it I thought they'd sent me a brand new one by mistake. Everything is well packaged and their descriptions are 100% accurate.

I would imagine that you would make much better money selling on here and then just buying your camera from where ever you like. If you're talking about part ex then you are limited to deals available through that retailer. Have a look on camerapricebuster, see what the best price is for what you want. Find out a price for your kit 2nd hand on here, I think you'll find you'll keep more ££'s in your pocket that way, rather than doing a part ex through a dealer.

Thanks - have tried the above for a quote. Probably will try and sell here on the forum but want to get an idea of a fair price first. (Canon 1D Mk3 perfect order late serial batch)

Have a look in the archive threads in the for sale section, you'll be able to see how much any have gone for on here. I think they do come up, so there'll be some for reference.

i got a couple of prices on some kit and it seemed to work out at about two thirds of what it would sell for on here

If you're selling and the kit is good, then the classifieds on here is a good place to sell. Prices seem higher on here than other places at times, although offers/haggling takes place. I have picked up some great bargains here though, although you do take stuff on trust. I've been possibly caught once or twice.

Buying, then MPB are a good source. I've bought stuff from them and the condition has always been better than they suggested. They are hyper critical, never had an issue.
