Of note as I recognised the name Petr Bambousek is that he uses Olympus MFT gear

And Olympus are one of the main sponsors, or am I just being cynical. But you're right I believe he got to the point he physically can't or didn't want to carry the weight of the Canon/600mm combo anymore. Worth reading his story if people are finding themselves in the same situation.
Back to the competition, some fantastic images in there. But I have to admit that there is a few I'm not sure about, like the BIF winner, each to their own though.

His image of the hyacinth macaws is close to genius (IMO). The birds are hardly there at all but when you find them the image really makes sense.

Some excellent ones there. Particularly like the close up of the starling and the ostrich on the sand dune, but many are really good.
