Yes
Originally I thought of suggesting bird portraits to show this, but that would be too restrictive in terms of results and equipment, so I've opted for just:

Behaviour and character.

So many shots of birds look lovely and we say "Aww pretty" but they don't actually show you anything about the subject other than how it looks. I thought a challenge to capture not only a priddie birdie but also a snapshot of the bird's behaviour or characteristics would be more interesting.

Hopefully this will reveal something new to a lot of us when the entries start rolling in - see a new side to a bird we've photographed before, perhaps.

You can enter one image only, this can be edited / changed at any time through the duration of the challenge.

Images must be taken and submitted between 13th July and midnight 9th August.

Please keep this thread restricted to entries only. Please use the Discussion thread here. Thanks.

Good luck! :)

can you post a larger image mark - you can go to 800x600 - can't make much out on the thumbnail.

I wasn't expecting this but just spotted this young heron under the trees catching his supper ... Stickleback I think...
