I've got to drop my other half off at the Birmingham LG Arena (near the airport) for a midweek evening concert, and collect her when it finishes, so I'll have 3 or 4 hours to spare. Can anyone recommend any nearby venues for me to while away a few hours with a camera, bearing in mind it will be around the time of sunset.
Cheers.
Les.

Hi Les
I have had many a happy hour down on the canals & canal basin in Brindley place, whick is a waterfront lively place. Only a couple of miles from the lg arena too

I live nr Birmingham and know it pretty well, but it depends what it is you want to shoot!?

I agree the canal basin behind the Mailbox is good, particularly in early evening when the lighting is perfect. In that area there are also some good urban architecture scenes in and around Brindley Place (you can walk along the canal between the 2 places).

For candid street shots, anywhere is pretty good, but again in this area you have Broad street, full of hustle and bustle, and bars and nightclubs... lively at this time of evening.

Give me an idea what you wanted to shoot, and I may be able to shed more light!

Thanks guys. The canal area sounds good. To be honest i'll photograph almost anything so i'm sure there'll be plenty of subject matter. In fact my camera club has a competition coming up entitled people so candids may be an option. What's the artificial lighting like?
