hi, cant seem to find a setting but wondered if anyone knew if it was possible to set blinkies on sony camera so i can judge the white light on my hilite?

thanks

i know on nikons, i think it shows the blown areas as red. just wondered if i could do that with a sony

Not sure how to switch them on to check, can't see anything in the manual, could you tell me where you set them on the 700 so I could check, thanks

ah right okay, got camera with me today so will have a look in a bit, although a C button doesnt sound familiar.

thanks

are the blinkies called something else on Sony cameras, so i know what to be looking for?

thanks

yeah i had just looked into the C button and this is only on the a700 and is programmable to what you choose.

I have read that i may be able to alter the display for a after a shot and get a version of blinkies then but no live blinkies on the display.

Its not really much point looking at blinkies are they are based on the JPG (or the embedded JPG within the raw) so they are just based on your settings and are not a true indication of blown highlights. They are only useful for JPGs, not if you shoot raw.

if i shoot in raw+jpeg, do i get them?
really its just to get an idea for setting a backdrop in a studio.

Blinkies is just a slang-ish photographer word for them.

They'll probably be called something like 'highlight warning' in your camera.

Found the Sony 'Blinkies' if you change the display when viewing photos on the LCD then you get the flashing black and white Blinkies.

Thanks
