I have noticed a awful lot of threads based on equipment rather than actually using it
Thats the talk equipment section of the forum, try looking elsewhere on here
Why does "brand bashing" make people so annoyed anyway? Its not like anyone on here actually owns any of the Brands, you're just people who spent some money on them, you haven't got any real attachment to it.
I like Marmite, but I don't care if you don't.

... it prepetuates the whole Nikon vs Canon thing. Can't we cut back on it a bit, we are supposed to be better than this.

Sorry but ummm... there are more camera manufacturers than Nikon and Canon in this world!! At the end of the day... who cares what equipment somebody uses...
Isn't the end result the thing that matters?? A good photographer would be able to take a good photo with any camera surely? It shouldnt matter if they use Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Samsung, Fuji, Olympus, Hasselblad or any other not mentioned.

I know that it's not a digital but what ever happened to "Chinon" - (I had a Chinon CE5 when I was younger) please no laughing as it did take some cracking pictures... Was even more impressed with the powerwinder I got for it....

Because it's petty and a complete waste of time. I don't come here to read about why X is supposedly better than Y and that Z sucks - but half the time it's all I can see...

Complete waste of time, I've had both and for all the times I miss my Nikon I'm glad I got a Canon.
I think there's too much put on technical ability rather than just getting the right shot at the right time here personally but it's all friendly (mostly) and certainly makes you try harder and think different.

Didn't think so.
If I was insecure about my own purchases I would plaster my kit all over my signature don'tcha think? When people are insecure about something like camera kit they naturally try to shove it in everyone else's face to convince themselves that theirs is better. I've not once done that either; so think again.
I just don't like having to wade through the carp thats all - and even the 'banter' gets boring after a while.
