So my beloved d700 is broken. I've never had a camera break on me. It's done less than 20k on the shutter and I picked it up one day and found no image when looking through the view finder. I've gone through all checks and YouTube vid's to see if it was a stupid fix but the mirror is just staying up unless I manually pull it down.

Has anyone had this issue? Had it repaired? If so how much is it likely to cost?

It is out of warranty. I bought 2nd hand at 7k on shutter.

I have the ERR code on the LCD.

I would expect it to be a relatively cheap repair, and economically viable. If I were you I would send or take it to Nikon or to an authorised repairer and get an estimate.
 
I had something similar. Cost me £300 for a new mirror box IIRC
