Hi all,
Off to Snetterton next month to the touring cars.
Have never been to Snetterton and looking forward to going to a new circuit.
Anyone else on here going and if you have been before any tips on good places to take shots from?
 
Will be there all weekend. Best spots for spectators are really the last chicane and the chicane after the bridge.

There might be some new spectating spots at the end of the banking that runs along the back straight to the outside of the 2nd corner. I believe this was planned but can't recall if it was there last summer.
 
Thanks for that, let's hope that long promised summer arrives by then!
 
Morning, outside of circuit between bombhole and The Esses or the new banking at Agostini or adjacant to start finish line.

Afternoon - outside of circuit along start finish straight, or Russells (now murrays)

There is new banking all the way down the old Revett Straight, allowing you a view of Montreal. Good view but not sure its a photo location.
 
I'm going to this too and was wondering what time you guys get there to get a good spot, I only live 10 mins away so getting there early isn't a problem but I noticed the gates don't open that early....is there likely to be a massive queue from early on?

Just to expand a little... be aware that (unless it's changed since last year) there's no screen visible from the esses. They're using the 300 circuit again which is a 2 minute lap - with only 12 laps you don't see as much action as you do at shorter circuits. Last year was like watching paint dry, no real incident of interest and boring weather. I gave up on the photography and went to watch race 3 from the start/finish straight.

If you're interested in the racing rather than just the photography, I'd recommend the last chicane (what used to be Russell). Although it isn't as good since they changed it, you can at least watch the screen to see what's going on. 2 minutes doesn't sound a long time, but it feels long! Other than that, the new hairpin wasn't too bad.

With regards to getting there, I'd say when the gates open if the last chicane is where you're heading! It's a very popular spot.
 
We always get there early, around 6:30, before the gates open. We're normally within the first 1/2 dozen cars or there abouts, so can't comment how bad the queue gets, but I'd imagine it gets worse later. Last year we went Saturday and Sunday, walked around the circuit on Saturday, took photos from several places Murray, Brundle, Nelson and Palmer. I'd definitely recommend Murray on a Saturday, especially during the two BTCC practice periods. Plenty of spins as drivers try their best to control the car coming off Coram at speed and trying to break but still be fast through the reprofiled Russel now Murray. On the Sunday we spent the day at the top of Palmer, you can see pretty much all the new infield area plus if you turn round you can see the cars come down the start finish straight and enter Riches. For a 12 lap race we saw plenty of action from there. Some cars try to overtake going into Palmer and also Oggies, there is a dip in the track at Oggies which catches some drivers out.
Oh and they put one of the screens on the infield between Oggies and Williams.

Thanks for the info, i was there yesterday taking some pictures of a trackday and I think I might sit on the new banking in between Palmer and the Senna straight.

Remember a filter if there is, particularly if you're using fast lens(es). That's caught me out before! Personally I prefer intermittent rain, better photo opportunities and sorts the men from the Griffins :D

I would tend to agree but after freezing at Brands for the Dtm I fancy a bit of current bun for my boat race;)

Filter!!! On the front of my lens, Sigma 120-300mm 2.8 takes a rather big filter on the front. It has a uv filter and that's all it's getting:D
