Built in double electric oven

We need a new one

But some say built under, what does that mean?

Also estimate cost of fitting?
 
If the cupboard is already there fitting is a doddle , the old one should just slide out with one cable if it's electric, it's a bit more complicated if it's gas but still only a couple of hours max

It's not necessary to use a qualified electrician if the lead is already there and you don't have to run a new one. It should be the same as wiring a plug with brown=live blue=neutral Green or green/yellow=earth. On older wiring it could be red=live black=neutral and green or green/yellow=earth.
The double oven or oven with seperate grill are a far better option to live with if you have a tower unit as you don,t have to bend to put things in and out of the oven and the grill will be at eye level. Also most built under units have the grill in the oven cavity which leads to a lot of smoke for the first 5 mins every time you turn the grill on.
 
The OP asked what a built-under oven is so I'm assuming the existing oven is built-in, in which case its cable might not reach the new (built-under) position and would need changing.
 
I think most ovens now are on a 13 amp plug so assuming you have a plug socket nearby it should be very simple.

Correct, only single ovens can use a 13amp plug all twin cavity and double ovens need to be wired to a proper cooker point.

To the OP if your current oven has 2 seperate cavities (double oven or oven and seperate grill) and its mounted in a housing at eye level then don't but a built under oven as they are smaller 720mm compared to 900mm.

Fitting shouldn't be a lot and some companies do it at the point of delivery.
 
it depends on the supply cable being big enough, the MI's are very important

I don't think it's a built under I want. The house is about 10 year old like most new builds, think it should be quite standard

I'll rather buy from a place with installation and take away old unit

This sort of thing is best left to a woman as they understand these things. Men are better with things like cameras and cars. In fact, maybe it's best never to even go into the kitchen at all... unless it's to ask if dinner is ready.

Agreed - someone who knows what they're doing needs to look at the existing cables (upstream & downstream of the cooker control unit), even if the old oven is a double.
 
sorry if i sounded harsh, but i would not want your house to burn down or you or your wife and kids to get hurt.
