Burning DVDs of pictures with Vista

I seem to be not doing too well with Vista at the moment (well, there's a surprise)

I'm burning CDs and DVDs with my pictures on and when I give them to someone else, they can see that there is something on the disc but can't open anything.

Can someone tell me what on earth I'm doing wrong.

Might just be your writer drive not doing its job well enough. I recently changed mine due to my brother in law being unable to read discs I wrote. New one is faster and only cost about £15.

If you can set the writing speed then try making it quite slow (like 4x) and see if that helps.

Possibly then, but it's a brand new laptop so I would hope it is. I'll have a go with the writing speed

I'm doing it straight from windows as I don't have any DVD burning software at the moment. So it's possible that's what I'm doing.
 
The built in writing stuff is a bit clunky. Nero is so much better.

Laptops are often not good at writing at full speed. think it needs a lot of power to burn fast.

Out of interest, a dicussion at work with people and the opinion is Roxio is better than Nero? Thoughts?

Why is it better than Nero or Roxio then?
 
6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

i use roxio, but i've used nero. they both burn CD and DVD's so either/or for me !

That's the problem I have - if I burn disks on battery power i get maybe a 60% success rate - nearer 95% if on mains power. Laptop is a couple of years old now, and still on original battery mind!

Thank you for the link. I have just downloaded it. I couldnt understand why I couldnt save my pics onto CD's. Can I use CD's or do I need to buy DVD's please?
 
Have used Nero for all CD and DVD burning for many many years with no problem, no matter what I am writing (Music, Data etc etc) One big big :thumbs: for nero!

I would always sugest using the power option. If your battery goes then your disk will fail not only is that a waste of a disk but i have had to free some drives before when the disk got stuck in after the fail.

I prefere Nero for the burning but as said it's just my preforence.
