Buying Apple Care on Ebay

Do you know anybody who is a student, as if I remember correctly I paid £47 for 3 years.

I got mine from eBay for my old Mac Pro & ACD, it was fine until 1 month later I went to sell them and transfer the warranty. They were needing proof of purcahse (paypal is no good, it must be from an offical authorised Apple reseller). This is required for most repairs too.

I read a few stories on eBay AppleCare warranties even if they were sealed legit boxes like mine was, without a proper proof of purchase its worthless. Not worth the risk IMO.

we do apple care on behalf of DSG, not a bad service but we dont fall for the "i spilled a tin of paint on it" excuse to get a new laptop, we replace what's needed and send it back with paint all over it as cosmetic is not a cover option.

I haggled the price down on Applecare as they wouldn't budge on the price of the iMac (well, the iMac was reduced anyway!)

Got the 3yr Applecare pack for £90 instead of £139.

Not sure about transfers, but I've never been asked for any paperwork, proof of purchase or otherwise when taking a Mac in for repair and my Apple care warranty was from eBay.

I've had a screen and a battery replacement during 2010.
