Buying lens from kerso (eBay trader)

Has anyone done this and can recommend him? Lenses come with 1 year international warranty, but just wondered if I got a bad copy would this be covered by this or would it be possible to exchange it?

He's totally sound. He's a member/advertiser on TP and has a 'customer service' thread here.
 
Yup beat the pants of everyone else on my 17-40L, he's a pleasure to deal with and was cheaper than the Honkong dealers :D
 
Great guy - no problems - highly recommended.

Like the others have already stated Ian (Kerso)is totally reliable with very competitive prices. If you deal with him via the Traders section his prices are usually better than the e-bay site
 
Ian is a top bloke - I've bought a few bit from him in the past with no problems.

He even did me a special order from the states which I thought was jolly decent of him.
 
At the risk of a "me too" post....

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ian to anybody who's looking for kit - So far i've had a 17-40L,70-200L f4 IS and a grip for the 7D, and all prices have been excellent, Ordered one day, shipped the next and delivered the day after. Can't fault him, tbh. :thumbs:

Out of interest if I did get a bad copy, a slim chance I know, but would warranty cover this sort of thing?
 
I have ordered probably £6000+ of gear from him over the last few years and can 100% recommend his service and prices.

I had a slight issue with my 1DmkIV being a bit soft and send it to Canon who covered it under warranty with no issues at all. (the problem might have been me rather than the camera lol) I can't comment on lenses but I imagine it would be the same story.
 
"Bodies have Canon USA warranty valid in UK with UK invoice provided"...can someone clarify?Does this mean if there is a problem I can take to,for example,my local Jessops and they will send to Canon.
Not sure how thos USA warranty etc works.
Certainly any communicatons from Kerso have been very professional.

If it's something that concerns you, why not ask Ian - drop him an email and he'll explain the situation, no problem. Plus, you'll have record of what he's told you for future reference, should there be a problem.
 
I asked Ian this last week as I am getting a lens from him.

As it comes with a warranty you have to make use of that.
 
I too would whole heartely recommend Kerso. I have used him a couple of times and the service was first class. Cannot comment about using the warranty as neither item purchased have been a problem requiring a warranty claim.

No reason to get Jessops involved. You just send it to Canon yourself with a returns form which you can get from Canon's website.
 
I have had various lenses and a few Cameras off Ian top bloke to deal with ... great sevice and great prices too :thumbs::thumbs:
 
First of all a BIG thank you to everyone on here that has recommended me. Alan, you would deal with Canon direct not Jessops? They have nothing at all to do with me or Canon? I honour anything I sell regardless for 1 year. Ian.

I can wholeheartedly confirm that Ian's UK receipts with bodies and lens's will be honoured by Canon. I had a problem with my 5D2 body, as it was less than 1 year old, I sent it off to Canon UK, along with Ian's receipt and it was fixed under warranty.

I know this is an issue for some, but with first hand experience, I can only say that no one need worry about the warranty issues - All covered.
 
I have lost count of the endorsements in this thread but as someone who expects good communication, fast and reliable delivery, an assurance that any after care will go without a hitch and all at a reasonable price, I think it speaks volumes that Ian is always my first port of call when buying new kit.

I have bought 4 lenses from him... I have recommended him to at least 4 friends who have all been really happy with his service (and his sister is just as responsive and helpful when he isn't there as well)

Considering a new L lens at the moment... he will get my business...

Very satisfied customer....
 
A thumbs up from me. Bought a couple of lenses some time ago and invoice provided by Ian was perfectly acceptable to Canon for cashback promotion at the time.

Matt, I sell mostly Canon, Olympus and Sony. Can get almost any item, I have most Canon & Olympus items in stock. Prices change daily so I do not put a list online and would rather e-mail prices to individual buyers to save confusion. I always aim to reply to all e-mails within 24 hours. Ian.

Bit late but as already said - Ian is a pleasure to deal with and having past connections to the village I live in - the tranaction came with a blether which added a personal touch.

only purchased one lens, but great price and delivered on time (albeit that I needed it quickly but he still delivered).

I guess when funds are available I won't hesitate to order again.
 
I LOVE buying from Ian. :)

2 D700's 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 50mm f1.4 and 105mm macro, 2 SB900s all purchased before Nikon's exchange rate went belly up but cannot fault Ian and his customer service.
