Calibrated or not?

I have an almost new Samsung 2433BW 24in monitor. Very nice it is too and i have even calibrated it with a Huey Pro.

Is there now anything to be gained by upgrading to an IPS panel (other than better viewing angles) at £400 quid. If I do and stick the calibration software on there it will be just the same right?

I need to get pretty close colour accuracy as I have some legal and commercial work that has to look about right!

Calibration software is not a miracle worker. If the combination of video card and monitor are not capable of producing the correct results, no calibration device is going to be able to pull that back. However provided both of these devices are good quality than you'll get a monitor that looks right.

I've not used a Huey for some time so not completely familiar with it's software. However if it allows you to plot a response curve or gives you deviation results, then you can see how close to optimum you are getting.

If you are happy with the results from your Samsung monitor then I'd stick with it.
