Camera advice for neewbie

Hello

Im looking for some advice on what camera to get for a neewbie to photography. I am a student so price plays a big factor in the question. After looking around any new DSLR is out of the question. I am open to second hand cameras, as im new to this im sure this wont be a problem.

Im looking for a simple easy to use camera, thats not to big, and that i can play around with and start taking some semi-professional pictures whilst learning the ropes. Then obviously as time goes on (and i finish my degree) i will upgrade in due course.

If I was a student looking to get into DSLR I'd probably look for a second hand D200 and and either a 35mm or 50mm prime. For the same money you could get a toy-like plastic but brand new entry level model.

yeah the D200 is a tank under cameras. you could also look at the Canon 40D which also has similar build quality but costs a little more.
