camera batteries go flat even when its off?

Any ideas on this one? My compact fuji s5600 won't keep its batteries "UP" even when its off? first I thought it was the rechargeables... so I tried the duracell new ones and a week later ...no battery...
what do you reckon , camera finished or do you know any good tricks to save it?

Remove the batteries when not in use for extended periods; if they sit in the camera they wil deplete :thumbs:
 
Yup, your camera is never really off unless you remove the batteries. My 30D depletes quite quickly if left with the batteries in it.
