Yes
Just had my £50th birthday and was lucky enough to get a nice lump sum (£1100) which is going to fund a new camera, thought this was going to be a easy decision, could not have been more wrong.
I have 40D with 50mm 1.8, 17-85mm 3.5 and old Sigma 70-300 4.5,
I shoot anything done motorbikes, cars, jets, weddings, buildings, events, etc you get the idea,
so looked at 7d, 5d mk2, d700 d800 and 5d mk3, the latter would be part cash part finance, do I keep the 40 and buy good glass, do I switch to nikon? sell everything and start again?
I know I'm the only one who can make the final decision but I do appreciate any thoughts ideas you could come up with
Thanks Paul

Canon 7d would be good choice of camera and there are some good deals on it at the moment.
Primarily I would first look at upgrading your lenses, in particular the 70-300. I would replace this with a Canon 70-200mm "L" lens (F2.8 / F4, IS / nonIS all are good and what you get depends on your budget)

Well after much thought and tons os advice, all of which I'm grateful, I chose the Nikon D700, and 50mm 1.4g totally made up just need to figure how to work it, so thanks to the people who helped me choose

How to work it? Get it set up right then just keep pressing the button! I've had brief plays with newer (D800 and D600) and fully pro (D3s) bodies but prefer the D700. Having said that, I find that I'm using a bridge and a compact more than the SLR these days! Far easier and lighter to carry around and no faffing with lens changes.

Enjoy the D700, I know I do!
