Camera Suggestion

I am in the market to buy a new camera but there are so many opitions, add-ons and such, it makes your head spin.
I did have a Canon Rebel T1I - unfortunately, someone broke into my car and stole it, and all of my worthy photos.

With the Canon, I did love it, but I felt like there was something better out there for me.

I love doing close-up portraits and macro the most, but I am looking for something that can do everything, as I am working very hard to expand my horizon on the photos and subjects I take.

I am open for suggestions with lenses and such too....

I would say that all cameras can do everything, you tend to be more limited by the lenses. If you like portratits and macro, how about a 50/1.8 and a set of close up filters for starters, or a Raynox 250 - That will get you going nicely.

Of course though, some cameras do things better than others!!
 
1. What's your budget?

2. What did you feel were missing from the previous Canon? I.e. what did you want to do that it didn't allow you to?

Essentially; any camera body will do, for lenses; get a macro lens and a good "normal zoom" for general walk around; the 24-70mm range is good for that.

For the macro/portrait stuff, if your budget allows for it get a f/2.8 lens as you will be able to control and get a really nice depth-of-field with that - essential for macro and portraits.
 
For everything, my budget is about $1100. I'd like to spend no more than $700-$800 on the camera itself and reserve the rest for a good macro lens.

I loved all the features the canon rebel had, but it was so bulky.

If I have to settle with bulk to get a quality photo, I will settle for it . . . was just such a pain to travel and walk around with.
 
Best advice is probably the classic; head to your local store and have a play with the various cameras and choose the one that you find comfortable to hold and operate.

Once that's done you can then consider which lens to go with it.
