Camera switches off automatically when turned on (Sony DSC W300)

Hi there,

I need some help understanding what could be the problem with me Sony DSC W300 camera.

For the last three weeks my camera switches off within 1-2 seconds of turning on unexpectadly. If I leave it for a few hours and turn it back on I am lucky to see it open with 2 mins to take a few photos and then it starts behaving oddly again and it switches off within seconds.

Anyone know what could be causing it? A friend of mine dropped it on a hard floor from a metre up and since then its been behaving like this. Its got a titanium body so thought a sturdy body should have lessened the damage but not sure.

Is there anything that could be done? Its a brilliant little digital camera that has lots of manual and auto controls so am kinda still persisting on resuscitating it. :|

I would appreciate any help or info people have to share!

it might have a titanium chassis but shocks through circuit boards easily crack them.

Some sort of safety cut-off following damage during the drop.

Time to get a new camera for me if there is no permanent (affordable) fix?

Without the psychic hat it's impossible to tell if there is a fix from this distance.

Perhaps a camera repair shop could help?
