Most travel insurance policies won't cover you for anywhere near the value of your kit.

I'd say you need separate annual camera equipment cover. It's not cheap, as most companies seem to have minimum premiums no matter how much kit you have. When you go abroad you may need to inform them in advance.

Was just wondering if equipment on the household policy was as good as a specific policy for camera equipment. I have my equipment on my household policy but i'm not exactly filled wth confidence by the insurers. On the occasion i have queered them about the cover they always seem very blasé about the cover and as i drag my equipment on holiday with me i think i might insure with a specialist company for peace of mind. Aaduki does look competitive!

I use my household policy as additional items on 'All Risks' - this includes 30 days worldwide cover, but as with any insurance you have to check the small print - mine is items > £2000 have to be named, and also restrictions on cover when in unattended vehicles, etc.

I know you said that you dont want to put it on your home insurance but thats what I do have additional items on all risks
It covers all of my gear and a laptop

Recently took out insurance with Aaduki. It is for a year but covers up to 20 days ( I think ) of world wide travel ( I'm going New York ) . Anyway it covers for a total loss of up to 3000 , you have to give serial numbers for any items worth over £1000. In my case that was for a 5Dii. Policy cost £86 approx .

Hi Jim ...again thanks for that I think I might try them it's a lot of expensive kit to lug around that I couldn't afford to replace ( just moving to FF) and BTW good luck with the tripod!
