Camera with a telescope

[SpikeK6]

I was talking with a mate today about attaching a camera to a telescope and it got to the point where he has the scope and I have the camera.

My question is though, how hard is it, is it just like setting up for a shoot at the moon with a long lens?? or is there alot more to it than that???

Thanks

what type scope is it?

usually you'd get a T-mount adapter onto the dslr and put the whole thing in the eyepiece holder

another question is it guided/have tracking/eq mount?

also another worry is carry load of tripod/mount + Camera weight

Ah sorry I re read my post and it does not come accross clear.:bang:

What I really meant was I am not putting my camera on his telescope but thinking of getting one myself, and was just wondering if it was difficult to do, all your questions would have been my next ones.

I`ve been doing astrophotography for years. The internet has made things a lot easier and there are some great forums about! My forum is UKAI, it`s chock full of very clever people indeed and gentleman, every last one of them. (The odd woman too ) In answer to your question, yes it can be tricky BUT don`t be put off. I learned from scratch from people on my forum mainly. I`ve even had people I don`t know spending hours on the phone with me walking me through stuff. An act of kindness I`d happily pass on Your white balance and iso ect can be tricky to get right but only to begin with, you`ll soon get the hang of it. I`d be happy to help out and as I say, the guys on the forum are great Kit can be expensive but well worth it. Do it!! If you have any more specific questions fire away....

Thanks for that Ryan. I may well check out that forum too, Like said I have not purchased one yet but will be looking into it and checking out whats good value and whats not.
Like everything I gues the more you spend the better it will be(sort of) like photography equipment.
