As my close vision for reading worsens my glasses prescription has increased. But I can't wear glasses for long term vision which I also need when looking to take photos that aren't near. Have tried varifocals and find they don't work

My camera allows me to tune in the viewfinder to my prescription but the back screen where I see all the menus is small text. It's quite tricky constantly moving my glasses on for looking at that and then taking them off for the viewfinder

I've seen sony have a system that allows text size to be increased. Do any other camera makers?

Two choices (assuming that you have mirrorless and can see the menu in the EVF as suggested above):

a) :Learn the layout of your camera by feel/memory, as most other people who use mirrorless do.

b) Get used to putting your glasses on and off a lot.
 
Surely most cameras these days have custom modes in one form or another , Olympus being the easiest I have so far found .with four C custom modes , just spend a little time programming in your needs then it’s just a case of using what’s needed at the time .

Some Fujifilm cameras do have the option to select larger text, possibly all recent ones.
 
Yup. I might find with practice I get used to learning by feel as above poster suggests (my eyesight deterioration was quite sudden so I'm not so used to looking at settings through view finder yet and twisling things)

But if at some point I do upgrade the Sony A6700 or Sony Alpha 7C II seem good options given their menu accessibility features.

You can get a sort of lupe that attached magnetically to a self adhesive border for video.

Might sound silly but a monocle might be an answer to the problem and can be easily dropped out of the eye to dangle on its string if necessary.
 
Have you tried contact lenses? I normally wear two contact lenses and wear reading glasses for close up. If I’m taking photos I wear my left contact lens (for distance) and no contact lens in right eye, so I can see distance and also screen and controls at the same time. Much like a monocle although if you can’t get on with contact lenses……
 
I don't but that's an interesting idea. I have had some success with looking through view finder and learning buttons by feel so will try that for now

When I feel I deserve an upgrade I'll go for Sony a6700 I think
