Camping girl

A photo of my god daughter camping in wales.

I really like the shot but it is lacking something.. and I am not quite sure what. The image above is more or less straight from the camera.

It feels a bit 'muddy' to me, and I am concerned that if I print it she will fade into the grass. What can I do (with Lightroom) to pep it up a bit?

i would maybe select your god daughter with the magic wand, lower the levels on the background, and then lift the mid tones on her, should make her pop out of the background a little more ? ideally a flash would have done all this for you at the time of the shot.

Contrast mask, a little dodge on the face, plus sharpening via a 5% hipass filter &softlight layer

Would work better on a RAW file. Could do with a little cloning on top of the tent etc

I think Grum has it more like I imagined, with the grass darkened. I do have the raw so hopefully I can achieve something towards that and not have the halos around the tents
