Can I put Lowepro bags in the washing machine?

Yes
I've got quite a few, and one or two are a bit dusty. I'd really like to chuck them in the washing machine, but don't want to kill them

Thanks

Not really helpful Jeremy.... I have a silk Laura Ashley rug that they say "specialist clean only", that went in the washing machine and came out perfect.

Perhaps I should rephrase my question -

Has anyone put their lowepro bags in the wash and they've come out unchanged?

thanks

I had an older Slingshot I got secondhand and I washed it as it minged. Can't remember the settings but it would have been one of the gentle, quick washes. It looked a bit more used afterwards, but not much and worked well. YMMV

Try putting it inside a pillow case if it'll fit, and put the detergent carrier in with it. I've used this method to wash canvas trainers in the past on a gentle wash cycle and it works. Just try and knot the pillow case in some way to keep it closed and it should be fine.

Stick the most disposable (dirtiest?!) in the machine with as gentle a soap/detergent as possible and see what happens to it. Drying could be more of a problem than washing.

Some cheaper bags used to have cardboard stiffeners in them and if that got wet then you had had it really but I imagine most fiarly modern bags of reasonable quality don't use carboard anymore.

My old Kata mini bee bag has been through the wash and dry multiple times after very muddy outings. Don't see why lowepro would be any more vulnerable.

Yes, wash and hang out to dry, works a treat
Stick Velcro to each other otherwise loose threads get stuck to it

I did and no problems at all

I wash all my rucksacks and camera backpacks in the machine and use Grangers Performance Wash.
None of them have come to any harm after several washes/spins/dries.
The pillow case is a good tip though, it save a lot of noise too!

Not saying you can't do it just advising that the spin is when any damage is likely to occur. Just retired after 25 years as a washing machine engineer and I've seen the damage that can be caused, although a lot of modern machines will just refuse to spin if out of balance.

Only had a need to do it once on a cold gentle cycle but yes it came out unchanged, except cleaner of course.;)

I wouldn't. Just me. I've had Lowepro tags come off where the stitching became compromised. And that was without washing it.

Just a thought, I know most of these bags come with rain covers, nonetheless if they do get soaked through in the rain, do they suddenly disintegrate?.......I think not!

Why not handwash?

Mud and grime gives a bag character. I can't imagine washing a bag unless it got dog s*** or puke on it. :exit:

Looks clean enough to me.:p

Are you sure they just got a bit dusty? There is a difference between dust and stain.

Surely you could just vacuum the inside of your bag to remove the dust and lose dirt? Like you would vacuum the inside of your car after you visited a sandy beach or a dusty desert?

HA HA! I wish you lived close to me - I have the wire of an underwired bra between drum & housing now, can't get it out - so Lowepro bags will be staying unwashed for the moment!!!:eek::giggle:

A blessed hotpoint... I reckon it'll be either Botch or Naff next time ;)

OK, stick your head inside and try shining a torch through the little holes in the inner drum and see if you can locate it. It's usually somewhere near the heater element. With a small probe like a welding rod move it towards the sump hose. Lean the machine back so you can undo the sump hose from the tub and remove it from there. If you need any more assistance just give me a shout, just have the model number to hand.

Then you just ban the wearing of bras in your household.
