North England Canals near mancheater

Hi, this is my first post here so i will introduce my self a little.

i am 39 years of age
Am 5ft 7
Weigh 16.7 stone *cough*
And just about to start talking up photography again.

I live near Manchester some 15 miles towards Bury, and am about to do the Rochdale canal (all the way to the end 33 miles ish) . I plan on doing it over 2 days so i can return home each night . Has anyone else done this here ? is there anything i should be aware of or if anyone got any tips or anything would be great.

Last time we did the canal from Littleborough to Hebden quite a few sections were closed due to flood and landslip.
The signs indicated the sections would not be open until late summer earliest.
This means walking the A6033 for quite a length. I would check the situation with the Canal & River Trust on 0303 040 4040
before setting out as I would not like you to be disappointed!
