Canon 100-400mm is.

Just picked up one of these but without any papers, I've found that I keep nudging the manual focus ring when using the lens, I'm using with a 1Dmk1, can I turn this off or do I need to practice holding the lens differently.?

After many years of using a 100-400L on a 1D MK1 I can quite safely say there is no way to turn it off. The lens has full time manual over-ride on the focus ring should you ever need to adjust it slightly.

Its a case of finding a way to hold it without touching the focus ring. I never found it a problem when I used this combo, must be my particular way of holding it.

I did that! grip the indented slide section with forefinger and thumb, and the weight resting on your palm. Think shotgun.
