Canon 1D Mark 3

I've got a 13mb PDF from Canon which was made available to sports photographers on how to set up their AF functions.. bit too big to email but can pop it on my webspace?

Hi Phil i'd love to have a read through that. Where can I find your webspace?

I'll upload it now and post the link here for anyone else :)

The AF tracking isn't actually how fast it follows an object, it is how quickly it changes to follow another object (say a referee passing between you and the player in question) - it is for this reason it is best set to slow!

Cheers Phil. That makes sense. What AF point do you use? and do you use AF expansion?

Would that apply for the mkII?

I use centre point usually (or use the joystick to move point if composition requires it - I don't understand why sports photographers want 50 odd points when we only ever use one at a time :D) and if I remember correctly have it set to surrounding points..

Click here to download the guide :)

Thanks for that. i'll have a read through later.

Do you have any of your sports photography taken with the 1d3 on the internet?

i use it on the slowest option for my footy stuff, I defo notice the difference in that setting as it jumps to much on the middle setting or even one below it. Also use surrounding points on the AF, I tend to stick on the middle or 1 off centre depending on the type of shot.

I usually leave tracking sensitivity either at default or the next one down to slow.

If I remember correctly Canon releaed a pdf (think it was a pdf) for settings for various sports. I'll have a look and see if I can find it.

i am about to buy a 1DMk111, i know in the early days there was a prob with focus, any body know the serial number range, or the start number after the fault was corrected
