Whenever I clean anything on a camera the first thing I use is a rocket blower. And it's the same with the sensor. Put it in sensor-cleaning mode, give the rocket blower a few good blasts pointing away from the camera (just in case bits of rubber/dust/dead spiders have accumulated since the last time you used it) then point the blower towards the sensor and give it a few blasts. Don't get the nozzle too far into the mirror box. Then switch the camera off/on.

Now check to see if it worked - stick a lens on, use manual focus, go to Av mode and set the aperture to f22. Point the lens at the sky and defocus and take an image. Load the image into a PC and look for grey spots. Just a couple of small ones can probably be ignored (unless you use small apertures regularly). If you've got lots of big blobs then you need to go to physical cleaning.

I prefer to use a LensPen SensorKlear - where you just rub the sensor clean (after having used the rocket blower again). Others like the wet method - try googling 'Copperhill' as I've only tried it once and don't feel comfortable making any recommendations.
