Did your 550D come with a plastic protective film covering the screen?

Slight issue with it at the moment!

There's a difference between a thin peice of pvc covering the screen and a screen protector.

My 350, 40D and 5D2 didn't come with anything to protect the screen when they where in the box.

They had nothing on the back or top screens, I've since bought some of ebay.

I mean the thin pvc covering that most screens seem to come with.

Mine had a thin piece of plastic to prevent scratching. I wasn't aware that you could get a "screen protector".

RE: your issue over the mix-up regarding box and lens. You could always send them an email saying that you are unhappy and ask for clarification.

I purchased my 450D from Currys online and collected in store. When the salesman brought it to the counter, I asked him to show me the contents of the box and he definitely broke the seal to open it.

Just looking at your other thread Dougie.

Did you purchase the kit to include the 18-55 or 18-135 lens? I bought a camera off RGB about 18 months ago, and I found them really good to deal with. If you are in any doubt then get in contact with them. This will only niggle you for ever.

Regarding whether it has been used, a possible way to check is to see when you take the pics what number it starts with. I know that the counter can be reset, or that sometimes it can take the comtinuation number from your memory card, but worth a look.
 
I got what I ordered, the 18-55 lens kit, but not in the correct box. So they have changed the lens over.
I have sent them a an email.
 
Regarding just changing the box - That really wouldn't bother me. But if you have any other concerns that the camera may have been used then I hope you get that sorted.
 
Actually Dougie you could have a better lens if they have swapped the boxed kit lens for one off the shelf.

I read an article a few weeks ago (cant find it at the moment) which said that the 18-55IS kit lens is made in China and the "off the shelf" retro purchased 18-55IS is made in Japan. Has anyone else read this? My 18-55IS kit lens was made in Taiwan.

All Canon DSLRs come fitted with screen protectors. The thing you think is the screen is actually just a piece of protective plastic; the screen is underneath it. If you damage the protector you can get a new one for only a few £££. So you're talking about a piece of plastic film to protect the screen protector... not necessary. (The only reason it's there is to prevent fingerprints.)

At least the snow is melting.
