Good News!!

Today I received my 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II USM lens!! Very excited as i wasn't expecting it for a while!!

Cheers to Stuart, Jake and John at Digital Depot for keeping me informed (and putting up with my nagging!!), They have been great in sorting out prices and bits for the replacement kit that was stolen etc..

I will post some shots once i've had chance to get out and take some!

It's a superb piece of kit, you will absolutely love it

I've got the 2.8 IS USM version on loan atm and I am now trying to find the pennies to get my own copy it's fantastic...

Hope you enjoy it :)

Superb lens. You are the second person to get one on here today :)

Where abouts in Herts are you Dave?

Nice one, would appreciate feedback as to your thoughts on it, especially how it compares with the 2.8L IS Mark I and perhaps a review would be good for anyone thinking of taking the plunge

judging by the quick play I had at work earlier its a great bit of kit!!!

My mate fell in love with it as soon as he took a few pics of his car!! I think he is slightly more excited than I am really!!

Superb idea markta. Could you do a review for the TP section? There is a template to help if needed.

Definitely, the guy i do some bits with has the Mk1 and a 5DmkII, so we're already putting in motion some side by side tests...

No worries! and no rush!

I know that feeling all too well.... got a big exhibition next week :(

:( i have a guy who is just about to leave and no sign of a replacement!!! guess i'll be doing 2 jobs for a while then!!

Where abouts in herts you from smoothedit?? not sure you saw my earlier post... I'm Hitchin/stevenage area

I did sorry!

I am in Welwyn doing a show at the moment and live in Hoddesdon.

ah cool, i know welwyn quite well... Hang on i'll PM you...

I think this will possibly be my next lens when/if the price comes down? How much are DD selling it for? and I'm in Letchworth.. :)

Ok guys, not a review, more first impressions...

AF is extremely accurate and Impressively quick compared to the old lens... It doesn't appear to Hunt for the focus in lower light as much either, great for me and my Theatre photography!!

IS is virtually silent! I was actually worried it wasn't working to start with, then I realised it must be when I turned it off!! lol

The few pics I have managed to take have come out excellent, very sharp and clear... However I am yet to compare these to the Mk1 side by side... Will post some up ASAP!!

One annoying thing, (Maybe its just me) is the locking Lens Hood... Great idea, i'm just not used to having to press a button before i twist it off!! I'll get used to it i'm sure!!

Cant see the prices coming down much more. Especailly if the VAT goes up. Id buy one now ;)

I thought you normally just borrow lenses and just walk off with them Matt ;)

They're Really sharp on the eyes mate, can't wait to get out and use it properly... (not just messing around in the garden!!)
