Hi Guys,

This is my first post here.

I'm currently saving to get the Canon 7D. I'm hoping to get it before christmas.

What I'm hoping for is user comments of this camera, rather than the online reviews which state that it is brilliant, I was honest answers from regular users of the camera.

Thanks.

Dean

Sorry, but I seem to keep posting these links!! Hope they are useful and will give you a little light reading while you wait for your 7D!! I found it all made much more sense when I had the camera in my hand and went through the info at the same time.

In my opinion, I really do like my 7D, but it really took some getting used to. I had to persevere hard to grow to appreciate what this really can do. The focus on it is excellent and there have been many times when I am not sure whether a lesser focussing system would have got the shot. The 7D is always used for nature / moving shots and I am confident about it's abilities to get the shot. There is loads of stuff on the menu system, which I think would be really daunting if this had been my first camera. If this was my main walkabout camera I would be coupling it with the EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS lens - A real gem on the crop sensor. It gives lovely results, sharp and great colours.

Is this your first camera?

Do you know how to use a DSLR properly?

What lens/is your lens budget?

Might be better going for a used 40D or something and a decent couple of lenses.

So the equipment you have is apparently:
Equipment:
Canon EOS 400D
Canon (Stock) 18-55mm Zoom
Canon 55-300mm Zoom
Tamron 10-24mm Wide Angle
Tamron 55-200mm Zoom

What are you intending on using the 7d for?
I found it remarkable step up from the 400d, which just couldn't perform in low light. However, I found another step up using better lenses from those that I had. The kit lens from the 400d is not great I reckon, I never used it on my 7d, but I was only missing 22-28, whereas you have no alternative from 24-55, maybe this is not a problem, but I have found that now I have a much better lens than the 400d kit 18-55, I have used it several times in place of my other lenses.
