Canon cashback schemes

Noticed on CanonRumours today that a US rebate scheme is likely to start in the US soon, on both the 60D and 7D bodies and kits.

What do we reckon the chances of something similar coming here are? Zero I reckon.

Canon don't seem to have bothered with any cashback schemes in the UK for ages now. Their pandering to the US market and ignoring of us is ****** annoying tbh! :(
 
There was a cash back scheme in May last year. I expect we will get something in the next few months. Its normally on the XXXD bodies though, not the higher spec models like the 5D/7D
 
I've always thought the US were lucky with their cashback schemes. The UK seems to get nothing.

There is a promotion on lenses bought after purchasing the 7D. But it's not very good imo. It requires you to buy a 7D (or 5D) first, on which you get no cashback. Then buy a qualifying lens, which are all pretty high-end.

yeah that looks quite good doesn't it, wonder why they don't do it here.

If you haven't heard of it you send in a canon camera (*any* camera - film/compact whatever, working or not) and you get a fairly heavy discount on a new camera. I think its repaired/refurb stock, carry a 90 day warranty.
 
I did a cost study last year shopping the best USA prices against the best UK prices and the best prices in Japan. UK was highest every time, always, across body, lens and speedlights. The import duties and tax structure here ruins any chance of competitive pricing internationally:bang:. In the case of one lens I looked with the exchange rate the UK price was two times US. two ways to see this one I guess if prices were lower here I would spend more.:D

Sounds like the logitech scheme in the UK. Send ANY logitech product and receive 50% of next purchase.
 
Oh well, bit of a non-issue for me now as my employers just bought me a 7D \o/
