Long story short, how long did it take before Canon acknowledged receipt of your rebate request? I sent mine very close to the postmarked deadline (if I remember correctly, about 5 days before(?) )

Pretty quickly. About a week or two to get online confirmation then a month to get the actual cheque. Bear in mind the claims centre is in Ireland so it's going to take longer than usual to get there.
