Hi All,

Just been looking at the Canon CPS website.

Just seeing how many are members and if it's worth joining or not.

Been a member for a couple of years, and yes, well worth joining.

Ian

Depends on what kit you already have. If you have enough to qualify - it's free - and worth joining.

Yup, worth it just for a rapid turnaround of kit from repair.
You do need enough kit to qualify though.

had to use a few times over the yrs.. am currently on a two day turnaround for kit repair... in the past i have had a free loan camera through them because my repair was longer then specified.... also through them i am on a priority list for new canon camera.. also you get a rep you can email and ask stuff ...

all in all for free... good stuff :)

That's a good point Kipax made actually. When my 24-105 was going to take longer than 2 days to fix, they arranged a loan lens free of charge.

Well worth if if you rely on your kit to earn money. Main advantage as Kipax says is the fast turn round on repairs. Had a lens and flash turned round in a day. As it costs nothing go for it

I joined last November, but as yet not had to use them for a repair. Not had a membership card through yet though, just a few emails.

Definitely worth joining if you are doing paid work & rely on your kit. I had a 1DsII repaired and they couldn't get a part for over 3 weeks so I ended up being loaned a 1DsIII for a month.

Another benefit, an old CanonEF28-70 Macro lens I have was damaged on a shoot. Unknown to me, Canon no longer support this lens for spare parts so it was consigned to the scrap yard (so if you are tempted to buy one 2nd hand think twice, it is no longer supported).

Although I was extremely disappointed, I must say CPS were very quick to send a letter to my insurers explaining the situation. They then settled my claim within a week, so I've just bought the newer 24-70 (which is supported :)).

my experience is very good they do a sensor clean for free if you go to any of the shows and book a clean in advance from them

OP....When I click on that link it takes me to Amazon.

It may be that cameras are still registered to someone else? Did you buy new or used?

one purchased new from bristol cameras and the other second hand but is only 6 months old and as far as i am aware has never been registered but can't be 100% sure on that point
the one from bristol cameras i registered with canon when i first bought it but not with canon cpc
i wouldn't have thought that would be an issue though

Another thumbs up from me. It's a lot easier to get repairs done when you're a CPS member as obviously the membership levels come with a repair turnaround time.

However, when you've had the silver membership and got a camera back within 5 days you wonder "hmmm, what if i'd had it back within 3 days" and start buying more lenses and bodies to qualify you for Gold level.
