Canon ef-s 17-55

I'm thinking of getting a canon ef-s 17-55 f/2.8. I'm have an ef 24-105 f/4, but this is a big, fairly heavy lens to be carrying around. I'm after something that I can just plonk on my camera and go for a walk around town or with the dogs.
So my question is how would this lens perform on my r7, is the glass good enough to resolve the 32mp, how fast is the auto focus?
I also fancy something with a fast aperture than f/4 and a bit wider than 24mm.
I don't have a great deal of spare dosh to be buying rf lenses at the moment.

The EF-S 17-55 2.8 is a great lens, I use it on a 90D (32MP) and I'm very happy with the results. AF is quick, I can't comment on mirrorless performance though.

I've watched a few reviews and on the whole they all seem pretty positive.
I'm sure the performance will be the same whether mirrorless or mirrored, it was more about the sensor resolution and how it would be paired with the 32mp and you've answered that for me.
