Possibly a daft question.

I am thinking of purchasing the above focus screen, but according to a well known online photo warehouse say it's optimised for use with f/5.6 and slower lenses.

I have a 200mm f2.8.

My question is will this make a difference to the quality of the image through the view finder whilst using manual focus.

Any feedback gratefully appreciated.

I think that should be f/5.6 and faster. Someone's got their bigger and smaller numbers confused with their faster and slower lenses ;)

I have it on my 40D and have no problems using either the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 or 105mm f/2.8.

For fast lenses I think it's the Ef-S that becomes the best for manual focussing, but it's not recommended if you use lenses slower than f/2.8 (or perhaps f/4).

The screen you want is the Ef-S - see p183 of your handbook.

It is better for manual focusing lenses of f/2.8 or lower. It reveals the shallower depth of field - I think the other screens only show DoF equivalent to f/5.6 or something like that.

But with lenses with higher f/numbers than f/2.8, the normal screen is brighter.

Thanks for the helps guys....much appreciated.
