Can anybody let me know what kind of remote i need for multiple timer shots?
In Sept issue of DigitalSLRphotography there is a section on this and unfortunately the Canon 50d doesnt have a built in multiple timer. The mag does mention a remote shutter control but it retails at around £110. Ive been on ebay and seen similar ones for about £25. Has anybody used one? if so how good are they?

The mag also says that you can perform the same function by using the software which came with the camera. Does anyone know how?

Cheers

There will be remote releases made by other companies that will work. Mine is made by Hama and it cost me a few quid. It's a cable release not a wireless but it works just fine. Just make sure you get one compatible with the 50d as I know Canon do not use the same socket for the remote on all of their cameras.

To use the supplies software you have to shoot with the camera attached to the computer and EOS utility running.

Various timer remotes available on Ebay for around £20/£25. Mine came from Hong Kong and works a treat! Mine was for the 40D but the 50D looks like the same timer.

Yes, mine came from Ebay £28 I think. Works a treat.
Probably one of the few non-Canon things I've bought, couldn't bring myself
to spend £90 odd on something I needed for one job.
As it turned out I use it quite a lot.
