Canon Pixma 9500 Feedback request

Is anyone on here using this printer & care to offer their opinion pls. I've read the photo i review & the only hiccup appears to be the enforced margins for heavyweight paper.

I had more or less decided on the Epson R2880 but the recent price rises & Canon's cash back offer have made me reconsider

Any input much appreciated
 
I have had a 9500pro for about 5 months now and the only thing I can really say is the results are stunning, it appears to be quite economical aswell.
I thought the margin issue was when using fine art paper, but there is a workaround for this now, not sure though if the latest canon driver has fixed the issue.
 
I have just read a review in the latest photoplus magazine that rates the Epson R2880 over the Pixma 9500.

Pixma Pro 9500: Excellent black and white printing but lacks vibrancy on glossy paper and was the slowest of the bunch tested.

Epson R2880 Superb colour and black and white printing but the black cartridge need swapping over for glossy or matte printing

But the Pixma 9000 took top marks apparently the quality of the 9000 is excellent but its black and white prints are not the best

Thanks for that - do you primarily use Canon paper and if not are profiles reasonably easy to come by ?

TBH I had read this before I bought the printer, but have to say that you need to do the colour calibration page setup on a couple of prints before you start doing lots of printing, if you do that there are no issue's with vibrancy of shots at all, and I really don't see the speed issue as a problem, yes it is slow but if you are only printing a couple of A3 shots a time it isn't an issue imo.
I went for the 9500pro because I got it at a price I couldn't refuse when AJ Purdy went under, bearing in mind at the time it was normally considerably dearer than the R2880, would I have paid the extra had it not been on offer, having seen the results yes I would.
Although I have just read there is a 9500pro MK2 version due out soon.

Although the R2880 comes out on top this is another reason I didn't go for it, also the fact that when you change the cartridge it has to go through a head purdge on that colour to get all the ink out before printing, which eats the ink up.

I mainly print on Canon semi gloss as it looks great behind glass, but all the major brands appear to have profiles for the printer, I shall be trying some ilford next as the results are suppose to be even better than the canon paper.
 
I run an 9500 and find the results to be exceptional, particularly for b&w (Canon fine art paper).

For general portfolio pics I use the Canon semi-gloss which provides excellent results for a reasonable cost.

I have had one minor issue with the ink tanks, in that a couple have had to be re-seated when the software stated an 'error' with the tank. All this required was lifting up the locking clip on the relevant colour tank and re-locking.
