Beginner Canon stopped saving pictures when mirror lock up on. why?

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a problem here. I was out taking sunset pictures tonight and after a while I noticed that my camera (Canon 70D) stopped saving pictures I took. I used a mirror lock up function on. It saved them up to the point and then just stopped. I dont understand why. Could I have pressed something by mistake? It still saves pictures in normal mode, with the mirror lock up function turned off.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Ok let's start with the basics and I don't mean to patronise. You are pressing the shutter twice aren't you? Once to lock the mirror and a second to take the shot?
