I am having some troubles with my computers card reader, up untill recently all my SD cards worked fine in the PC, now i can only get 1 of the 6 to work.

They all work fine in the camera but the PC won't recognize them.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks

Nick

Internal or external card reader ?

Try linking your camera to a PC USB port using the cable that came with the camera.
If your cards download OK then it is likely to be a card reader problem.

If your card is internal check Device Manager to see if it has a problem.
Don't know what OS you have, but what I have said is based on XP.

Cheers Arclight.

it's an internal reader, the camera downloads the files through the usb ok (except for CS2 which has also decided not to recognize the camera)

I've had a look at the decive manager and can't see anything wrong there.

OS is XP.

That bit makes me think the advice I was about to give may not work.
However, you could try going to Device Mgr. and deleting the card reader then restart XP. That should cause XP to reinstall the driver (which may be corrupt).
Create a new SR Point first.

Is all this a sudden problem or one that has been intermittent then steadily got worse.

Thanks again.

It is a sudden problem, the card reader used to work fine, then it just stopped.

1 SD card still works with it ok.

Are the other cards that don't work also SD's.

If so it seems like a card issue.
Check for physical damage/dirty contacts.

They are all Sd cards, i have given them a check over and clean but no luck.

Just seemed abit strange for 5 cards not to work and 1 to be fine.

Thanks again

Nick
