CF Card Error Message

Last night I got CF error message on my camera...rendering camera useless. The card works in the card reader. does this mean the camera has a problem? I don't want to buy a new card in that case. I haven't got anyone nearby that I can check with. I can see a slight bit of non symmetry in one of the holes in the middle of the card and it doesn't feel like it's clicking into place as comfortably in the camera. No reason to think I could have damaged it though

Have a look in the camera card slot to make sure no pins are bent. Have you tried formatting the card?

Naked eye sees a slight difference in the slot matching the difference in the card although I can't see more than that. I'll search out a magnifying glass and check.

No I haven't formatted the card. I can see how to format the camera but not the card..but will get the manual out.
