As a bove.

How screwed am i?

I haven't tried reading it yet, not sure if there is anything to do first to maximise my chances of getting anything off it. Maybe leave it in the airing cupboard for a while?

It does smell nice though.

Had that happen last week, to a cheap ebay Transcend 4 gig thing. Still works perfectly:thumbs: As long as it's dried out properly you should be fine (famous last words:D)

:agree:

Right, finfers crossed then.
it's in the airing cupboard, i'll try it later this evening.

Cheers.

have read many times of CF cards getting wet etc and being fine, I think salt water is a killer but fingers crossed yours is ok!! keep us updated :)

Yeah, if you have deionised water around for any reason, then a 5 min soak in that followed by some rinsing will get rid of any crap that might corrode the card. Memory cards have no voltage sources in them so simple exposure to water is unlikely to hurt them - it's the contaminants (such as salt) that do the damage. In any case, if it does work once dried I'd take the images off it and then consider it a dead card - you don't want to find out in that once in a lifetime shoot that there was some crud left on the card that's slowly been etching it since it was wet!

Happens all the time - it'll be fine...
A couple of mine have no labels on - they've been boil-washed so many times (I had a habit of keeping spare cards in my trouser side-pockets and forgetting them).

Its almost impossible to destroy non-volatile memory with water.

It will be fine.
