Edit My Images
Yes
I transferred some photos onto my laptop other day and after I finished I ejected it ( after was told was safe to do so) and put it back into my camera to format it but when I tried it said it contained no images yet I know it did put it back into laptop and there they were so why didn't my camera pick them up ?????

There are 2 ways of formatting a card on the D300. One way is by pressing the two buttons with red format marks beside them, the top screen flashes formating, the other way is by going into the memory into "setup menu" (spanner) and scroll through until you see format memory card. I prefer the second method as on occassions the first method didn't do the job properly.
Make sure the card lock isn't on as well on the side of the memory card.

Hmm, how odd. The only reason I can think of that your camera didn't see the images on the card is that they are in a different directory than the one set in the menu. Did the image count go beyond 9999 by any chance? If it did then the camera creates a new directory to re-start the count from 0000.

I'm also a little confused over the formatting issue. My D300's will format an empty card. I only see the message you got if I try to view images (using the playback button) and the card is empty. Are you sure you pressed the correct buttons for formatting?
