CF Cards

I am getting a bit confused (I know not difficult in my case) but can someone tell me if I can use CF cards in my Canon 450 and are they cheaper to buy in the USA?

What is the difference?

No the 450d used SD cards, they may be cheaper in the US but they are not that expensive here.

Technical bits aside, the shape. Think of a CF card as a slimline Lego block and an SD card as a thick postage stamp

A CF card won't fit in a SD slot, however an SD card can fit into a CF slot - won't work but it will rattle about.

The xxxD Series Upto the 400D took CF Cards,
The 450D,1000D and 500D Take SD Cards only.

nope, new gen entry levels use sd (I guess cos lappys have sd ports?)

nope, though 1 series bodies can use both

It's my understanding that part of the reason for the change was the sheer number of cameras sent back for repair from cards inserted the wrong way around damaging pins, although there were other reasons as well.
